Elizabeth was born to Thomas Harraden and Temperance Sumner in Manchester, Massachusetts. Her great grandfather was Capt. John Harraden.

She was married to Jonas Chickering on Nov. 20, 1823 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Jonas was the son of Capt. Abner Chickering and Eunice Dakin of Mason, New Hampshire.

Jonas and Elizabeth had four children.

1. Thomas Edward Chickering (1824-1871), m. Caroline Battelle on Sep. 8, 1847.
2. Charles Francis Chickering (1827-1891), m. Garefilia Oakes in 1853.
3. George Harvey Chickering (1830-1899), m1. Eliza Wild on Oct. 23, 1856; m2. Mary Nichols on Jan. 24, 1866.
4. Anna Eliza Chickering (1833-1898), m. John Wilcox.

Elizabeth died in Boston at her home on 29 Chester Square after 4 weeks of illness (double pneumonia), at the age of 76.
