BLUFF CITY-Margaret "Maggie" Massengill, 87, Rt. 2, died Sunday at her home after a brief illness.
She was a native of Sullivan County and a daughter of the late Dr. George L. and Ruthie Arrants Plank.
Mrs. Massengill was a charter member of First Christian Church and had worked with the Sullivan County Farm Bureau. She was also active in community and political circles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Massengill, who died in 1979, after 66 years of marriage.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Georgia Warren and Mrs. Betty Ann Morrell, both of Bluff City, Mrs. Irene Hendrix Wagner, Elizabethton, Mrs. Edith Quinn, Knoxville, Mrs. Mabel Southwick, Lexington, Ohio, and Mrs. Margaret Rutter, Bristol, Va.; one adopted daughter, Mrs. Linda Kay Finney, Bluff City; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
