Quinn, Edith Masengill, born November 25, 1917, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013. She was a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. Mrs. Quinn received her Master of Science degree from the University of Tennessee and her Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University. A teacher for 42 years, she was one of the first teachers in Oak Ridge, and she taught for over 30 years at Mt. Olive School in Knoxville. Mrs. Quinn was a long-term Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tennessee. She was an avid gardener, and was an active member of various garden clubs for many years. Early in life, she was a star high school basketball player at Bluff City High School. Mrs. Quinn was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Quinn. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Quinn of Knoxville; grandson, Masen Shreve of Macon, Georgia; older sister, Georgia Warren of Bluff City, Tennessee; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Edith Quinn Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 13, Knoxville, Tenn. 37901, with checks payable to the University of Tennessee. The Fund will benefit an outstanding student pursuing a career in education. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Rev. Dave Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.
