Aletha May Strader Slifer, 84, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at her home at Little Timber Housing, Frankfort,Kansas.A service was Monday, July 8, 2002, at the Winifred Baptist Church with Dr. John Alber officiating.

Musicians were Steve, Teresa, Sara and Josh Argo and Paige Burton.Music included "In the Garden"and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Chance Slifer, Cole Slifer, James Koch, Brent Phelps, David Phelps and Ronald Fox.Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery southwest of Frankfort.

She was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Irving, the daughter of James W. and Anna Sheaffer Strader.She married Charles Slifer May 21, 1940, in Frankfort at the Methodist parsonage on a Wednesday evening after the weekly prayer meeting.He preceded her in death in 1984.

She was a homemaker and volunteered at the Frankfort Care Home.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Aaron, Richard, Lynn, Harold, William and Alfred, and two sisters, Mildred and Ruth.

Survivors include her children, Charles Allen Slifer, Petaluma, Calif., Randy Ray Slifer, Frankfort, Roger William Slifer, Petaluma, Calif., Bonny Lee Phelps, Greenleaf, Linda Kay Linnemann, Tonganoxie, Peggy Louise Simmons, Kansas City, Mo., and Lillie Ann Trower, Overland Park; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
