Ruth Violet Bentsen died July 17,2001 at the
Frankfort Care home Frankfort, Kansas at the
age of 90.
Ruth was born on September 19, 1910 on a
farm near Irving, Kansas. Her parents wre
James W. Strader and Anna M. (Shaeffer)
Strader.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
her brothers, Harold, William, Glenn, Aaron,
Richard and Alfred Strader, and a sister,
Mildred M. Carson. One sister Aletha M. Harper,
Frankfort, Kansas survives.
Ruth attended Antioch School. She married
Vernice C. Bentsen in 1931. He preceded her
in death in 1976.
Ruth is survived b a son Bernard Bentsen,
Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Mary Alice
Backman, Bellevue, Washington; three grand-
children, Tim Backman, Nancy Henson and
Joni Bentsen and two great-grandchildren,
Nicole and Danielle Backman.
Ruth spent most all of her adult life in the
Frankfort area. She worked hard and never
complained. When asked how she was doing
she'd say "Pretty good for my age" and then
laugh.
Her funeral was held July 21st at the Padden
Funeral Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend
Larry Bowyer officiated.
Music was provided by Eunice Samuelson,
organist and Lorene Shearer soloist.
Ruth Sparks gave a tribute to her Aunt Ruth
her namesake.
Pallbearers were Bernard Bentsen, Wendell
Sparks, Randy Slifer, Gerald Backman, Chuck
Wendling and Bill Kennedy.
Burial was in Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort,
Kansas.
