He was born on September 11, 1918 in Jefferson County, Missouri to William Everett Varnell and Gracie Mae Stottlemyre and passed from this life on October 26, 2012 in Medford. He married Maxine A. Rhoads on July 17, 1938 in Enid. Carl served as sheriff for several years in Helena as a young man. He and Maxine opened the first coin operated laundry in Carmen. Carl and Maxine served the Lord and enjoyed a music ministry for many years and many miles. They were married for 69 years before Maxine passed away in 2008.
Those who survive Carl include two sisters, Mildred Butts of Caboole, Missouri and Opal Doaty and husband, Al of Medford; numerous nieces and nephews.
Those who preceded Carl in death include his wife, Maxine; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
