Son of the late Evertt William and Gracie Mae Stottlemire Varnell, he was preceded in death by one son and one daughter. He was survived by his wife, Lola; three sons, The Rev. Davie Varnell, Tommy Varnell and Billy Varnell; two daughters, Carol DeShazer and Tonia Cain; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. His funeral was held December 21, 2009, at Friendship Community Church in Mannford, OK.
