A former Wellington man, William Cooper (Bill) Cummings, 92, died Friday, March 11, in Austin.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in the Capitol Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, with a nephew Rev. Logan M. Cummings officiating. Burial was in Capitol Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Cummings was born at Graham, Texas on October 18, 1895, the son of William Edwin Cummings and Arlee Reeves Cummings. The family moved to Wellington in 1907.

Mr. Cummings served in the U.S. Army in World War I. After his return from France he was married to Alice Allen on May 5, 1920, and they lived here before moving to Austin in 1951.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, sisters, Flossie Neeley, Eula Funston, Jewel Powell and brothers, Palo Cummings, Ice Cummings, Frank Cummings and Logan Cummings.

Survivors include his daughter Claudia Thuma of Austin, son and daughter-in-law, Colonel Will Joe and Mary Cummings of San Antonio, grandchildren Susan Miller, Joe Jason Cummings, Carolyn Binford and two great-grandchildren.
