A former Wellington woman, Jewel Cummings Powell, 79, of Amarillo died Saturday December 27.
Mrs. Powell was the wife of Lloyd Powell, and a member of a family that was active in Collingsworth County activities for many years.
She was born at Graham April 14, 1907, the daughter of the late William Edwin Cummings and Virginia Arlee Reeves Cummings. The family moved to Collingsworth County when she was a small child and she attended the Wellington schools.
She was married to Lloyd Powell on September 4, 1927. He was one of three brothers for whom Powell Field is named.
They moved to Amarillo in 1943. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Amarillo and of the Agape Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Powell, two daughters, Eula Lee Brown and July Miller, both of Amarillo; a brother, Bill Cummings of Austin and 6 grandchildren.
