Schlott was a German family which came to PA. Many of them have converted the name to Sloat - but there is no connection between them and the Slot Sloats of New Amsterdam.

Isaac Schlott moved to Stark County Ohio sometime prior to 1850. In the 1850 Ohio Census of Stark County he is listed as living with John& Martha Troxel in Lake Twp. Isaac married Catherine Essig in Stark County Ohio in October 1850. Some time after this date, Isaac changed the spelling of his last name from Schlott to Sloat. His oldest brother Israel kept the original spelling. In 1866 Isaac's family moved to Elkhart County Indiana.
