Betty was employed at Guide Lamp and retired in 1976 after 30 years of employment. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapel, the American Women's Business Association, the Lapel Lioness Club and the Lapel American Legion Auxiliary.
She died at her residence in Sarasota, Florida. Her grave marker indicates that she died on March 18, 2002, but official records indicate March 19.
