Adolph, son of Frank G. Anderson and Sophia Dorothea (Brown), was born June 2, 1914, in Cass County north of Atlantic where his father owned and operated what is known as the Evergreen Fruit Farm. Adolph farmed with his father and assisted neighbors with farm work. The family later moved to the Mt. Etna area where Adolph met Lillie Sorensen, daughter of Mike and Laura Sorensen. Lillie was born June 20, 1917. They were married September 29, 1938.

Adolph and Lillie farmed for more than 20 years in the Cass and Adair County area before moving into Massena, where they operated the Cities Service Filling Station for many years. Lillie operated the Midway Cafe on Highway 92 from 1977-1982.

They were the parents of five children: Daniel Michael, David Adolph, DeLoy, Darwin, and DeLaine Dorothea.
