Last Rites For Vernon Burt, 61

Funeral services for Vernon Burt, who passed away Friday morning at the Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, were held at the Curtis Funeral Home and the Methodist Church Monday afternoon.
Vernon S. Burt was born December 29, 1896 to Jerome and Electa Burt at Wadena, Minnesota. He graduated from the Park Rapids high school in 1914. At the age of 19, Vernon moved with his parents to Iowa. He took a course in mechanics in Austin, Minnesota. He then returned to the farm of his parents and has farmed there since.
He was baptized and joined the Methodist Church of Swea City. As a young man he was active in church and was a member of the church orchestra but health in the later years had kept him closer to his home.
Mr. Burt and Violet Mae Koons were married September 12, 1935, and to his union five children were born. Vernon, Jr., of Lone Rock, Wilma, Ronald, Marion, and Linda at home. He is survived by his wife, the five children and one grandson. Also a host of friends and neighbors mourn his passing.
Burial was in Harrison Township Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Herzog, Irvin Smith, Earl Hansen, Milton Jorgensen, Conn Dirkson, and Cliff Sykes.
