Claud C. Hawkins, age 88, of Sayre died March 4 in the Hensley Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held March 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the Durham Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Smart, pastor officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services.
Claud was born December 3, 1895 in Breckenridge, Texas and moved to Sayre with his parents as a small child. He married Alice Evalena Manning on April 22, 1917 in Sayre. They lived near Sayre, moving to Durham in 1939, living there until 1976 when they moved back to Sayre. He was a member of Durham Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, in 1979, granddaughter in 1957, five brothers and four sisters. Survivors are one daughter, Wanda Bird of Sayre; two sons, J.C. Hawkins, Amarillo, Texas and Dewitt Hawkins, Durham, Okla.; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, Rose Adams of Reed, Okla.
