Elihu married Crystal Louisa Mayfield in 1941, daughter of Harley Howard Mayfield and Roxie Mae (Lamasters) Mayfield. They had no children and later divorced.

Elihu Dorsey, 92 of Unionville Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 1994, at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville.
He was born Jan. 12, 1902, at Kenton, Ohio, son of John W. and Myrtle M. (Johnson) Dorsey.
He married Cyrstal Mayfield in 1941.
Survivors include a sister, Hope Gladys Jones of Unionville Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Cecil, Lyman Vere, and Philip John and two infant brothers; and a sister, Donna Isabelle Deed.
He lived most of his life in Western Putnam County, Mo., and attended Wolf Rural School and to former West Liberty Methodist Church in Putnam County. He moved to Unionville, Mo., in 1987 to live with his sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Comstock Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo., with the Rev. Robert Meredith, pastor of the Unionville United Methodist Church in Unionville, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery in Putnam County, Mo. Visitation was held Wednesday.
