"Lyman" Vere Lyman Dorsey is the son of John Washington and Mryta Mae (Johnson) Dorsey.

Lyman was born on Feb. 6, 1906 in Missouri. Lyman's Nickname was "Ripy". He spent most of his life in Rural Sherman Township, Putnam County, Missouri. Lyman as a young man was 5' 1" tall. He died on Mar. 8, 1973 in the in rural Sherman Township, Putnam County, Missouri, at the age of 67 years, 1 month, and 2 days days.

Lyman married "Ruth" Iva Ruth Forkum, daughter of James and Jettie Ann (Watson) Forkum, on Nov. 8, 1949 in Piggott, Arkansas They had five children together. They later on divorced on Jan. 2, 1962 in Unioville, Missouri.

Unionville, Mo.-- Lyman V. Dorsey died suddenly of a heart attack near his farm home Thursday, March, 8 1973. Dorsey and his brother were walking down the road, when he was striken with the fatal attack. He was 67 years, one month, and two days of age.
The son of John W. and Myrta Mae Johnson Dorsey, he was born February 6, 1906 near Kirksville in Adair County. He came to Putnam County in 1915, and had lived here since with exception of two years in Southern Missouri. His occupation during his entire lifetime was farming.
He was married to Ruth Wyatt in Piggott, Ark., November 8, 1949. She survives together with five children, Evelyn, Jimmy, Gary, Roy, and Dale, all of Unionville, two step-children, Barbara Varney and Oza Wyatt both of Seymour; one sister, Gladys Jones of Unionville, and two brothers, Elihu Dorsey, Unionville, and Phillip of Nevada, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Deeds, and three brothers who died in infancy.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, March 11, at Comstock Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Lochhead, officiating. Burial will be in Union Church Cemetery.

Lyman was united in marriage on November 8, 1949 to Ruth Wyatt in Piggott, Arkansas. She survives together, with five children, Evelyn, Jimmy, Gary, Roy, and Dale Dorsey, all of Unionville, two step-children, Barbara Varney and Oza Wyatt both of Seymour, Iowa; one sister, Gladys Jones of Unionville, Missouri, and two brothers, Elihu Dorsey, Unionville, and Phillip of Nevada, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Irene Dorsey, and a niece and nephew, Sandra and John Dorsey, 4 step grandchildren; Tina and Richard Wyatt and Theresa and Ricky Varney as well as several cousins.
His parents, one sister, Donna Deeds, and three brothers in infancy, all preceded Lyman in death.
Lyman professed his Faith in Christ and became a member of the Methodist Church in West Liberty at the age of 17.
Services were held Sunday, March 11, 1973, at 2:00 p.m. from Comstock Funeral Home, with the Rev. Glen Lochhead of the Unionville United Methodist Church the officiating minister. Burial was in Union Church Cemetery northwest of Unionville, Missouri on March 11, 1973.
