Mrs. S. V. Prince, 74, died at her home on the Steve Manly place near Riverton Friday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held at Old Bethel church and interment made in the cemetery nearby. Funeral services were in chrage [sic charge] of Rev. Paul Jones, pastor of the Clarks Baptist church.

The deceased is survived by seven daughters. They are Mrs. O. J. Baldwin and Mrs. S. H. Manly of Riverton; Mrs. Jodie Dunn of Port Arthur, Texas; Mrs. Emma [Scribner] of Crossett, Ark.; Mrs. Vernie Tarver of Leesville; Mrs. Eva Cobb of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and Mrs. Lizzie Scribner [sic Hampton] of Mississippi.

Other survivors included her husband, S. V. Prince; one sister, Emma Shows; three half sisters, Geneva Elliott, Carrie Whitten, and Georgia Sudduth; two half brothers, Robert Daniel Slocum and Samuel Dudley Slocum; and many grandchildren.

My great-grandmother was born to the union of Asa Elijah "Eli" Taunton and Louisiana Wealthy Hawthorn, who married in Catahoula Parish, LA on March 25, 1857. She married Seaborn Vermillion Prince in Caldwell Parish, LA on December 10, 1874.
