Widowed in 1871, Carrie immigrated to the United States in 1883 with her sons Andrew John Peterson and Carl Alfred Peterson. Her daughters Carolina Mathilda Nelson and Anna Christina Carlson immigrated to America in 1884 with their families and youngest daughter Louise Johnson and family immigrated to America in 1885.
Daughter, Maria Charlotta was born July 21, 1865 and died June 25, 1866 in Sweden.

At the reisdence of her son, August [Alfred] Peterson, 2020 East Front Street, about 10 o'clock this morning occurred the death of Mrs. Carrie Peterson, a well known resident of this city. The deceased was a native of Sweden and sixty-nine years of age, but had resided in this city the past thirteen years. The funeral will be held from the late residence Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

The funeral took place this afternoon from her late residence, with interment at Oakdale.
