From the Daily Register Mail, Thursday, Dec. 21, 1939:
C. Alfred Peterson. The funeral services for C. Alfred (Al) Peterson, who died suddenly Wednesday noon in his home at 266 Duffield Avenue, will be conducted from the Dean Funeral Home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, and burial will be in Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday afternoon and evening at the Dean Funeral Home.
Mr. Peterson succumbed of a sudden heart attack in his home at one o'clock yesterday afternoon, while looking at Christmas cards. His health had been good until the time of his death.
He was born in Ostergotland, Sweden, on April 5, 1871. When he was 11 years old, he came to this country with his mother, and the family settled in Burlington, Ia. He resided there and in Davenport, Ia., until on April 20, 1899, he married Anna Prusek in Cedar Rapids, Ia. The couple then came here to live and has been here since. Mr. Peterson was employed for 34 years as broommaker at Galesburg Broom Company and was a senior employee. He was an active member of the First Christian church of which he had served as deacon for thirty years. He belonged to the Men's Bible class of the church.
His wife is the only close relative surviving, and there are numerous nieces and nephews residing in the tri-cities. His mother, three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
