Betty Jo Porter, 74, of Mauriceville, died Thursday, October 18, 2012.

She was born June 2, 1938, to Elzina and Velia Bertrand in Crowley, Louisiana, and had been a resident of the area since 1972.

Betty worked as a nurse for a few years, but spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. She enjoyed working around her house and in the yard.

Survivors include her sons, Randy Porter and his wife, Lillie, of Kingwood; Troy Porter and his wife, Tina, of Nederland; and Michael Porter and his wife, Sue, of Tomball; daughters, Roxann Richards, and her husband, Kent, of Hardin; Debra Luther and her husband, Robert; and Angel Rucker and her husband, Tommy, all of Mauriceville; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; brother, Velia Bertrand, Jr., and his wife, Evelyn, of Biloxi, Mississippi; and sister, Una Henry of Crowley, Louisiana.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmo James Porter; long-time companion, Jerry Langford; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn Ogden; brothers, Robert and Jimmy; and sister, Edna.

Interment- Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
