His obituary which appeared in The Crowley Daily Signal, Crowley, Louisiana, 4 February 1972 reads:
Sanders Bertrand Services Saturday – Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate heart of Mary Catholic Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday for Sanders V. Bertrand, 62, who died at his home at 6:30 a.m. today. He was a retired carpenter. Burial will be in the Indian Bayou Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Randy Bertrand of Crowley; four brothers, George Eckels Bertrand of Ebenezer, Paul Ralph Bertrand of Blanchard, Elmo Mitchell Bertrand of Orange, Tex., and Alex Bertrand of Crowley; three half-brothers, Robert Bertrand of Beaumont, Tex., Velia Bertrand Jr. of the United States Air Force stationed in Turkey, and Jimmy Bertrand of Crowley; five sisters, Mrs. Sterling Stutes and Mrs. Robert Perry of Crowley, Mrs. William Sarver and Mrs. O.B. Petry of Indian Bayou, and Mrs. Kermit Robideaux of Bayou Vista; three half-sisters, Mrs. Euna Woods and Mrs. Edna Strodder of Crowley, and Mrs. Elmo Porter of Port Arthur, Tex.

The Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
