Norman E. Black of Boiling Springs, a former resident of Alexandria, died at 10:20 o'clock, Thursday, February 1, 1951, at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Aspinall. He had been ill only a short time before his passing and he had been a patient in the hospital only one day.
Black, a World War II veteran, formerly operated the Black farm at Hellyer's Mill, near Alexandria.
The deceased was born at Pine Grove Mills on November 26, 1898, a son of Frank L. and Lizzie (Isenberg) Black. He never married.
Mr. Black was field man for Doyson Mills of Boiling Springs. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force for three years during World War II, being stationed in India. He attended Penn State College.
He was a member of the Alexandria Presbyterian Church. He also belonged to Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 300, F. and A. M., Huntingdon, and the Coudersport Consistory.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Black of Huntingdon, and these four sisters: Freda (Mrs. Raymond Tussey) of Altoona; Ethel (Mrs. Earl Harnish) of Alexandria R. D.; Mildred (Mrs. Allison McCall) of Huntingdon, R. D. 3; and Catherine (Mrs. Robert S. Clark) Of Huntingdon.
Funeral services will be held at the Bechtel funeral home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Kenneth Duncan of Alexandria will officiate and interment will be made in the Presbyterian Cemetery at Alexandria. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
