In 1900 she, her husband, their four children, and his father lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Fragrant Hill Township, Dickinson County, KS.

In 1905 the seven of them lived on the same farm.

In 1920 just she and John lived there.

In 1930 she, her husband, their son Philip, and Philip's son James lived there. They did not have a radio. Philip and James both worked as farm laborers.

Mrs. J. A. Meek. Nannie E. Parks was born December 21, 1854, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and departed this life April 23, 1934 at the age of 79 years, 4 months and two days. In 1878 the family moved to Lincoln County, Kansas. On March 9, 1882 she was married to John A. Meek at Ellsworth. They moved to a farm two miles west and one mile south of Upland. They lived there about 18 months when they moved to the present home 1 mile west of Upland. To this union four children were born, Clyde, Price, Maude and Mabel. She is survived by her husband; one brother, O. D. Parks of Wichita; a sister, Mrs. Setta Spohn, Whitesville, Mo.; her four children; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides many neighbors and friends.

Mrs. J. A. Meek Dead. Mrs. J. A. Meek, age 79, for many years a resident of the Upland community, died last Monday night at her home. Her death was the result of a fall last Thursday in which one of her legs was broken. Among the relatives who survived her are her husband, several children and her grandchildren. J. A. Meeks for many years was adjuster for the Upland insurance company. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Zion church and burial was made at the Liberty cemetery.
