John Tilford Ewing was the son of Charles A. Ewing and Mary Ellen Funkhouser. He married Lucy C. Simpson 8 Dec 1886 in Wayne County, IL. He died after suffering a stroke at church. His funeral was held at the Albion Baptist church, with burial in the Simpson Cemetery.

John T. Ewing and Lucy Simpson Ewing had the following children:
1) Alva Carson Ewing 1887-1905 Buried in the Simpson Cemetery next to his parents in a beautiful bed of irises.
2) Mary Elizabeth Ewing 1889-1934 married Luther Austin Reeves.
3) Ezra P. Ewing born in 1891 and died in infancy.
4) Ralph Preston Ewing 1893-1911 married Luna Ethel Terrell.
5) William Jesse Ewing 1895-1917 married Amy Marie Chappell.

OBITUARY: Albion Journal-Register 8/25/39. Funeral services for John T. Ewing, aged Albion resident who suffered a stroke while at church a week ago Sunday morning, and who passed away at five o'clock Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock at the Albion Baptist Church. Services were in charge of Rev. John Maulding of McLeansboro with Rev. R.H. Riley, the pastor assisting. Burial was at Simpson Cemetery. Obituary. John T. Ewing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ewing, was born Oct 13, 1864, near Burnt Prairie in Wayne Co and departed this life Aug 25, 1939 at his home on South Second Street in Albion, age 74 years, 10 months and 12 days. On December 8, 1886 he was united in marriage to Lucy Simpson of Burnt Prairie. To this union five children were born, Alva Carson, Ezra Parker and Mary having preceded him in death. His aged companion; two sons, Ralph and Jessie; two daughter-in-laws; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers and one sister, together with a host of other relatives and friends remain to mourn his departure. He professed faith in Christ fifty-three years ago and often testified to his readiness to meet his Savior. He had been in failing health for the past nine years, and on Sunday morning, August 20th, while attending church services was stricken with his final illness, passing away five days later.
