GEORGE MELVILLE b' Sept. 1, 1852 near Charleston, Coles Co., Ill. Raised of Mich. & grad. from DePauw University at Greencastle, Ind. in 1880. (Family tradition relates that he & his brother Bruce drove cows from home to Greencastle and sold them to pay their tuition.) Taught school for yr. or so at Carmargo, Ill. Bought "Tuscola Journal" & bought the Norris farm 3 mi. E. of Ch'ston to "raise his boys on a farm". Taught at the Walnut Grove School for about a yr. Moved to Ch'ston in 1905 & assisted his brother Bruce in Northern Land and Stock Co. selling railroad land in N. Dakota. Took groups of Ill. farmers to N.D. & bought a section of land there himself. R' on his N.D. ranch for a time with his sons & taught school there for a year. Moved to Urbana, Ill. in 1913 to enter insurance and real estate businesses.

m' Sept. 6, 1876 Sarah Elizabeth Bond of Charleston, b' May 19, 1856 of Thomas & Nancy.

d' Apr. 14, 1930 in Urbana and she d' Nov. 10, 1934 in Urbana. They are buried in the Urbana cemetery.

DEATH TAKES G.M. GLASSCO--Death claimed George M. Glassco, veteran newspaper man and printer, last evening at 11 o'clock. Mr. Glassco had been ill for the past two years but had been confined to his bed at his home, 203 South Coler avenue, for only the past two weeks. Death was due to complications of diseases.

The deceased was born September 1, 1852 in Coles county, Illinois, and has spent his entire life in this state.

For many years he was a resident of Charleston, moving from there to this city about five years ago. For many years he was in the newspaper business, for 13 years proprietor and editor of the Tuscola Journal and after moving to this city worked for a short time for the News-Gazette. He later entered the real estate and insurance business until his health forced him to retire.

His widow, Mrs. Sarah Glassco, seven children and 15 grandchildren survive. The children are: Mrs. Daisy Daugherty, Rockville, Ind.; Mrs. Hazel Melton, Normal; Mrs. Ruth Huizenga, Oak Park; Paul Glassco, Chicago; Roy, Janesville, Wis.; Ray Glassco, Arcadia, Calif.; Melvin Glassco, Warren, Ohio.

Two brothers, H.B. Glassco of Kansas City, Mo., and J.M. Glassco of Sheridan, Ark., together with one sister, Mrs. Josephine Linkhart of Bristow, Okla., survive.

The body will be at the family residence on Wednesday for relatives and friends to view. Many relatives and friends from Charleston will attend the services and all the children with the exception of Ray, in Arcadia, Calif., will be here.

Services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the First Methodist church, of which he was a member. Rev. Sidney A. Guthrie, pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.
