HILDEGARD A. (JORDAN) BACHERT, 87, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born June 27, 1925 in Essen, Germany, she was the first German War bride in Fort Wayne and married Volkert "Ed" Bachert on June 21, 1947. She worked as a Bookkeeper and Accountant with Insurance Risk Management, retiring in 1995. She and Ed were active members of Fort Wayne Sport Club for over 50 years. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ed; son, John (Julie McCarthy); daughter, Barb (Bill) Schuhler; grandchildren, Brad Schuhler, Amy (Adam) Mains, Tonya Windsor, Ryan (Stephanie) Bachert, Kyle (Becky) Bachert and Evan Bachert; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd. with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or Fort Wayne Sport Club Building Fund.
