HISTORY OF THE LITTLE COVE by Harry E. Foreman, 1967
Thomas Philips (1794-1866) and wife Mary (1793-1875) lived on the home place and it was his son, Joshua Philips, who started the J.M. Philips seed business in the Little Cove about 1872 and who removed the business to Mercersburg in 1882. The J.M. Philips Seed Company is still in business and is operated by Mr. Robert H. Grove.
