Chatherine [sic] Philips' Will

In the name of God Amen! I Catherine Philips, of the Township of Warren and the County of Franklin and State of Pennsylvania, being weak but of sound mind & memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do make and publish this my last will & testament in manner and form following to wit,

I order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of my Executor herein after named, out of any portion of my estate,

Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Jemima Evans all my personal Estate consisting of two beds and bedding, one Beaura, two chests, clothing &c. and also all money that may be found in my possession, and that may be due to me at the time of my decease to her the said Jemima, and to her heirs and assigns forever.

And lastly I nominate, Constitute & apoint my brother Joshua Philips to be the Executor of this my last will & testament,

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the 24th day of September 1852.

Penna. Franklin County ss: January 4th 1853 Personally appeared before me, Robert Earley, Deputy Register &c in and for said County, David Sechrist and A.S. McCulloh, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, who being duly affirmed according to law, did depose and say that they were personally present and saw Catherine Philips now decd. make her mark unto and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same as and for her last will and testament, and that at the time of the doing thereof the said decd. was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding according to the best of their knowledge & belief, and that their names thereto subscribed as witnesses, are in their own proper handwriting and done at the same time.
