DEATH TAKES MRS. REBECCA BARNFIELD

Mrs. Rebecca Barnfield died at 7 o'clock Sunday morning at her home near Macedonia following an illness of several weeks She was born near Dix, Ill. Oct. 20, 1851, a daughter of Joseph and Amelia Hawkins. Her age was 87 years.

In 1870 she was married to Rufus D. Whitlock, who died soon after giving his services throughout the period of the Civil War. In 1875 she became the wife of Marion Robertson, and on Nov. 15, 1882, she married James Barnfield.

She was a member of the Webb's Prairie (Stockwell) Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are five children, Mrs. Ed Page, Benton, P.H. Robertson, Mrs. Ransom Phillips and Joe Barnfield, all residing near Macedonia, and Berlie Barnfield, of Johnsonville, Ill. Also surviving is one brother and one sister, P.E. Hawkins, Dix, Ill., and Mrs. Bell Hill, Kell, Ill., 48 grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at the Webbs Prairie Freewill Baptist Church Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Revs. William A. Askew and Marsh Harpoole officiating. At 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon a second service will be held at the Antioch Christian Church east of Dix. Burial will be at the Antioch cemetery with the Mitchell Funeral Home of Benton directing.
