Harold William Hotzler was born on July 20, 1025 in Alba Township, Jackson County, MN the son of August and Amelia (Hesh) Hotzlr. He was baptized in June of 1926 and confirmed in June of 1937 at the Methodist Church in Okabena. Harold attended school in Okabena and graduated from Okabena High School in 1943. He entered the service at Fort Snelling, MN in June of 1944 and served with the United States Army 43rd division in the South Pacific Theater. He was discharged at Camp McCoy, WI in May of 1946. Harold married Lorena Mittelstadt on December 19, 1947, and joined and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster. In April of 1948, he served as an elder and secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church. After their marriage, they farmed in Alba Township on the family farm until retirement in 1989. Harold was a charter member of the Sievert Peterson Post 608 of Okabena in which he served as commander, adjutant, and finance office for many years. He was also a member of the VFW Post 4743 in Lakefield. Harold was one of the original members of the German Band. He served as treasurer of Alba Township and also helped with vehicle parking at Brewster area funerals. After a short stay in the hospital and Colonial Manor in Lakefield, he entered Lakeview Assisted Living in March of 2011. Harold died on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake, MN.

Harold is survived by one brother, Warren (Elaine) Hotzler of Okabena, a sister-in-law, Mary Hotzler of Lakefield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena in 2002, his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Robert.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster with Rev David McDonald officiating. Casket bearers will be Mark Hotzler, Curt Hotzler, Dan Hotzler, Steve Hotzler, Tom Hotzler and Jeff Hotzler. Burial will be held in the Lakeside Cemetery in Heron Lake, MN.
