MORRISDALE - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport, for Donald Dewayne Rothrock, 84, of Morrisdale who died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, at his residence.
Rev. H. Aden Wertz will officiate. Interment will be at Centre Hill United Methodist Cemetery, Morrisdale RR.
Friends will be received at Strange and Weaver Home for Funerals, Morrisdale, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and a the church from 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday.
Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.
Born March 9, 1917, in West Decatur, he was a son of Joseph M. and Elva (Motter) Rothrock.
During his lifetime, Mr. Rothrock was employed as a clay miner, dozer operator, and a carpenter in building and bridge construction. He had been employed by General Refractories and also by the construction firm of Putman & Green & DuBrook Inc.
Mr. Rothrock was a graduate of Philipsburg High School, Class of 1936.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 812 Clearfield. He attended Centre Hill and Gethsemane United Methodist churches.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Europe from September 1944 to November 1945 with Co. C, 116th Infantry Regiment. He served with the U.S. Army Reserve during Berlin crisis from October 1961 to August 1962 at Fort Bragg, N.C. He retired from the Army Reserve on March 9, 1977.
On June 11, 1938, in Wallaceton, he wed Naomi J. Williams, who died Aug. 31, 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Billotte and her husband, Edmund, of Woodland, and Constance Kephart and her husband, Denny, of Morrisdale; four sons, Ronald Rothrock and his wife, Judy, of Philipsburg, Richard Rothrock and his wife, Carole, of Morrisdale RR, Robert Gary Rothrock and his companion, Loretta O'Connell, of Kansas City, Mo., and Joseph Rothrock and his wife, Sandy, of Bellefonte; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Margaret Flick of Williamsport, Vera Louise Cole of Clarence, N.Y., and Doris Jackson and Lorraine Leech, both of Meadville.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald B. Rothrock; and one brother, James Rothrock.
