POWELL, Ohio - Martha E. (Zeigler) Wappes, 92, of Powell and formerly of Fort Wayne, Ind., died July 4, 2013, in Hilliard, Ohio.

Mrs. Wappes was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of the St. Joe United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wappes was born in Columbia City to Jessie and Lillie (Prough) Zeigler.

Surviving are a daughter, Beverly A. Hurst of Powell; two sons, James (Rebecca) Wappes of San Antonio, Texas, and Edward (Dale) Wappes of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Crabill and Barbara Nicodemus, both of Columbia City, Ind., and Joy Follis of Fort Wayne; and a brother, Allen Zeigler of Churubusco, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Wappes in 1959; two sisters May B. Wappes and Geraldine Growcock; and eight brothers, Clarence, Jay, Ben, Lee, Don, Marshall, John and Ralph Zeigler.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Huntertown, Ind. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are to the donor's choice.
