She was born September 12, 1927 in Churubusco a daughter of the late Jessie and Lillie F. (Prough) Zeigler. Her formative years were spent in Collins where she attended the Collins School until they merged with Churubusco Schools where she graduated high school in 1946.
On February 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Gail W. Nicodemus. They made their home in Churubusco until 1972 when they moved to rural Columbia City. Mr. Nicodemus died in 1973.
She was employed for 25 ½ years by Magnavox, Fort Wayne in the manufacturing plant retiring June of 1992.
She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of God. An avid seamstress, she enjoyed sewing cloths and repairing them for her children. More recently she enjoyed crossword puzzles.
She is survived by three sons, Robert (Kathy) Nicodemus, Jerry L. Nicodemus and Kevin (Carrie) Nicodemus all of Columbia City; a granddaughter, Holly Nicodemus, Fort Wayne; two sisters, Betty Crabill, Churubusco and Joy Follis, Fort Wayne; and a brother, Allen (Jeannine) Zeigler, Churubusco.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary A. Nicodemus; brothers, Clarence, Jay, Ralph, Don, Ben, John, Lee, and Marshall Zeigler; sisters, May Wappes, Geraldine Growcock and Martha Wappes.
The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
