DANIEL A. HEWITT, Union veteran of the Civil War, and a well known resident of Sharpsburg, died yesterday morning of his home in that place from paralysis, aged 78 years.

Mr. Hewitt was a member of Antietam Post No. 14, G.A.R.

He is survived by a widow, one son, Charles, Sharpsburg; and two daughters, Mrs. Martin Hines, near Funkstown; and Mrs. Charles Marshall, Sharpsburg.

Funeral Friday from the house; interment in Mountain View Cemetery.
