Several years before his death he lost his sight. In 1814 he, three daughters and two grandsons had typhoid fever, all six passed away within days of one another. They were buried in the family graveyard on his farm. No inscriptions on the markers remain.
Lewis Davidson, married about 1769, Nancy Todd, an orphan, born in England, reared and educated by a wealthy English lady, who brought her to the New World.(As claimed by family tradition.) Lewis and Nancy had 14 children.
