Thomas was born in Allegheny County, PA., a son of Lewis and Nancy Todd Davidson. He was a veteran of the War of 1812 and came to Harrison Co., Ohio from Pa. with his wife, Lydia Armstrong, in 1820. A number of his siblings ended up in the area as well.
