A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Delores Mathews Perkins will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 in St. Rita Catholic Church, with Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 and from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Monday, October 1, 2012 at John Kramer & Son. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Mary Delores Mathews Perkins, age 79, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 at The Summit Nursing Home.

She was reunited with her husband of 54 years, Melvin O. Perkins; parents, Lawrence Mathews and Rosalie Michiels Mathews; siblings, Inez Mathews Jeansonne, Ora Lee Mathews Van Hoof, John A. Mathews, Tom Mathews, Huey Mathews, Myrtle Lee Mathews Van Hoof, O'Hearn Mathews, Charles Mathews, and "Little" Mary Mathews.

Delores was a faithful member of St. Rita Catholic Church and a supporter of St. Rita School. She was also a supporter of Holy Savior Menard where all of her children graduated. She was very devoted to all of her grandchildren and the church. Delores was a beautician for many years and was also a long time patron of Julia's Mexican Restaurant. She was a member of the Amicus Club, Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus 1134 and was a supporter of St. Mary's Training School.

Those left to cherish her memory include: one daughter, Michelle Perkins Young and her husband, Ronald Young of Lafayette; two sons, David L. Perkins and his wife, Sabrina Salario Perkins of Alexandria; Melvin Keith Perkins and his wife, Tina Perkins of Ball; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey K. Perkins, Johnathon D. Perkins and his wife Bethany Perkins, Zachary Perkins, Christian Perkins, Briann Perkins; Nicole Young, Logan Young, Christopher Winegeart; siblings, Alfred L. Mathews, Sr. and wife Betty, and Shirley Mathews Brouillette and husband Nap; brother and sister-in-law, B.H. and Juanita Perkins; sisters-in-law, Theresa Heston, Alice Mathews, Helen Smart; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Perkins, Christian Perkins, Johnathon Perkins, Christopher Winegeart, Logan Young, Jeffrey Perkins, and Gary Mathews.
