Merle lived 87 years of an exemplary life. Her life and example blessed her posterity and all the lives of anyone that knew her. She was a dear wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones and returned to her Heavenly Father and the loving arms of family on September 23, 2012 . She was born November 2, 1924 in Salt lake City, Utah to Dewey and Viola Allred Stout, Mom was the second of eight children and her best friend Radine introduced her to her brother Jerry whom she waited four long years for him to return from WWII. They married 7 days later on November 7, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with six children.
Merle is survived by her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Budd and their six children: JoAnne Hutton (Jerry), Michael Budd (Mercedes), Marilyn Catmull, Mark Budd (Cecilia), Janeen Dennis and Jim Budd (Teresa) all in the Salt Lake Valley; 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, also by her brothers Don Stout, Melvin Stout (LaNita), and sister Maureen Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Viola Stout. And siblings: Marilyn and Joan Stout, Byron Stout, and sister JoLyn Fitzgerald, and granddaughter Mandy Ahrens. and great-granddaughter Cheyenne.
She worked as a secretary and typist at various jobs starting at Fort Douglas and retiring from Utah State Corrections.
Mother was a role model that anyone could live his or her life by. She loved being at home surrounded by family and visiting the Budd family cabin. She was an extraordinary and amazing woman. She always put others and their needs before her own. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had unwavering faith and held many callings. She was an instrument in the Lords hands, and enjoyed doing family history. Our family has cause to suppose she was received well. She was a kind and sweet woman with malice toward none, full of love, humility, compassion and charity.
Viewing on Wednesday, September 26, 7:00 to 9 pm at the Taylorville 15th ward, 1457 West Atherton Drive (4310 South)
In honor of a wonderful mother to celebrate her life her funeral service will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 27 at the Taylorville 15th ward, 1457 West Atherton Drive (4310 South). There will be viewing for family and friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service.
Graveside services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery 1950 East 10600 South.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Silverado Hospice, Larkin Sunset Cemetery and Independent Funeral Service.
