Henrietta (Etta) Baker died Friday, June 13 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Helena, MT at the age of 77.
She was born October 5, 1902 at Yankton, the youngest child of Soren and Ane Jepson Jacobsen. In the spring of 1903 the family moved to Hand County where they farmed.
She attended rural schools and high school in Ree Heights. She attended several summer sessions at Huron College. She taught for several years in the rural schools of Hand County.
She was married to Norman Ellis in December of 1920 and to this union were born four daughters.
She married Lloyd Baker in the spring of 1932. To this union were born two sons and one daughter. They lived in Omaha for several years where he did trucking. Later they moved to Hand County where they lived on farms until his death in the summer of 1969. The children attended schools in this area.
After her husband's death she moved to Helena, MT to be close to a daughter. She was a foster grandmother at a state school for retarded people.
She became seriously ill in August of 1979 with a lingering illness.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Osben Douglas, Ventura, CA; Mrs. Bonnie Blair, San Bernadino, CA and Mrs. Erv Sorensen, Lakeside, MT; two sons, Lloyd Leroy Baker, York, NE and Jerry Lee Baker, Helena, MT; many grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Lysle and Lois Jacobsen; a brother-in-law, Sanford Hines and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; twin daughters who died in infancy; her parents; four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were held in Helena, MT on Monday, June 16. Graveside services and burial will be at the GAR Cemetery in Miller on Thursday, June 19 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Greenough officiating.
