Final Rites Held For Mrs. Matilda Hines
Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist Church for Mrs. Matilda Hines with the Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Pugh, Charles Pugh, Robert Pugh, John Pugh, Virgil Almond and Russell Jacobsen.
Mrs. Hines, the former Matilda Jacobsen, died Monday at Hand County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 17, 1898, a Yankton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jacobsen. At the age of three she came to Hand County with her parents. She attended the Miller School. She married Sanford Hines, Aug, 16, 1919, at Miller and had lived in the area ever since.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Marie, Mrs. Maurice Rediger, St. Lawrence; Doris, Mrs. Millerd Rediger, Helen, Mrs. Wayne Fawcett, both of Miller, two sons, Roger Hines and Dr. Thomas Hines, both of Miller; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Grover Almond, Nels Jacobsen, both of Miller and Mrs. Lloyd Baker, Wessington; 31 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
