MILLER – Funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Almond, who died Thursday at Miller, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist church with the Rev. Donald Greenough officiating. Interment will be in the GAR Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening at the Reck Funeral Home.
Elizabeth M. Jacobsen was born Oct. 23, 1896 at Yankton to Mr. and Mrs. Soren Jacobsen. At the age of six, she moved to Hand County with her parents. After graduating from Huron College she taught school in north Hand County and married Grover Almond, May 5, 1915. They farmed in hand County until 1963 when they retired and moved to Miller.
Mrs. Almond was the Sunday school superintendent and teacher at the Methodist Church, a 4-H leader for 30 years and an extension member for 50 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Gaudig, Miller, and Mrs. Quentin (Thelma) Benning, Huron; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Etta Baker, Helena, Mont.; and one brother Nels Jacobsen of Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, five sisters and three brothers.
