Daniel Kerr was the son of Robert Kerr and Elizabeth Bailey. His parents had moved to Pennsylvania after leaving Northern Ireland. It is believed that Daniel was born in Pennsylvania in about 1764 and moved to Augusta Co., Virginia where his parents and some siblings, lived out their years. He married his first wife there and raised some children. From there he moved and finally settled in Deer Creek, in then Pocahontas Co., Virginia, now in West Virginia.

He was first married to Mary "Polly" Kirkpatrick (1764 to 1810), the daughter of John Kirkpatrick, on 1 Jul 1790 in Staunton, Virginia, by Rev. Arch. Scott.

They had known Kerr children, some in Staunton and some in Deer Creek:

Robert Dunlap, 2 Jun 1791 to 7 Mar 1872 in Barbour Co., WV (wife Elizabeth)
John, 20 Oct 1792, below
William D., 1793 to 28 Jul 1881 in WV
Mary Elizabeth, 1796
Nancy, 8 Oct 1796 to 27 Jan 1854 in WV

Elizabeth, 7 Jan 1799 to 19 Jul 1846 in OH
Thomas K., 13 Sep 1802, below
David W., 2 Oct 1804
George K., 23 Jan 1808 , below

He married second to a Miss Nancy Ann McKamie/McCamy (2 Sep 1770 to 12 Apr 1858) on 1 Oct 1811 in Bath Co., VA.

They had known Kerr children born in Deer Creek:
David W., 31 Aug 1812,
Mary "Polly" 26 Jun 1814 to 14 Oct 1839
Daniel Jr., 14 Jul 1816 to 1838
Nancy,
Betsy,

He built on his land a homestead, a black smithing shop, mill and sawmill, on the Little Back Creek branch of Deer Creek, West Virginia.

It is believed he died in current Pocahontas Co., West Virginia. I note there may be a connection to D. Kerr, 38577650, no other data is on this stone. There is also a N "J" Kerr with no other data at the same cemetery, 90784431. MORE Details needed on these two stones.

On 6 Oct 1823, a will was probated for Martha Kirkpatrick of Rockbridge: To Daniel Kerr's children, Robert, Nancy, Elizabeth, James, Thomas George, and John; to Grand daughter Peggy Armstrong; to daughter Elizabeth McCutchan; to grandson John, James Kirkpatricks son of Kentucky; Galaspies, John, Elizabeth, Martha; James and Jane McKemy; my 3 grandchildren, James Galaspie and Rachel Galaspie, grandaughter Martha Galaspie; Marie McCutchan. Executors James McCutchan & Thomas Armstrong. signed Martha (her mark) Kirkpatrick on 8 March 1823 Witnesses Thomas and Isaac Lecky, Joseph Little, William Brown.

Per note left below: I have yet to find an original record that Daniel's father was "born in Lonmay, Aberdeen, Scotland." Seek record, requested but not received.
