Elizabeth Firestone, dau of Nicholas Firestone and Eve "Evey" Catharine Schwab, was the youngest of eight children born to the German immigrant and his wife, who had married c 1761. (Nicholas immigrated from Alsace-Lorraine with his father and family in 1753.) The family lived in Maryland and then migrated to Cedar Creek Rockbridge Co., Virginia about 1793.

Elizabeth inherited her father's plantation in April of 1808, which was very unusual at the time, especially since she was single. Her mother had a life's interest in the estate, thus they lived on the plantation together.

Elizabeth married George Lampert (Lamposter, Lambert) in 1809 and they had a dau, Priscilla, b. 1810. It is unknown what happened to George.

Elizabeth needed someone to manage the plantation and Henry Johns/ Hons began working for them.

When Henry Johns decided to move to Tennessee by 1818, when he sold his land on Back creek in VA, Elizabeth Firestone Lampert also moved to Tennessee and took her mother, Evey Schwab Firestone, and dau Priscilla Lambert (from her first marriage) with her. Henry and Elizabeth's first child, Ezra, was b. in 1816, possibly in Tennessee. A second son, Mathias (Matthew) was b. 16 Apr 1817 in Grainger Co., Tennessee. Henry and Elizabeth married 10 Apr 1824 in Knox Co., Tennessee.

Henry and Elizabeth sold their land in Tennessee in 1831, but may have already been living in Hancock Co., Indiana by then. They were living between Maple Valley and Shirley by 1834. They contracted with their son Ezra to take over the farm in return for caring for them in their later years, but that did not work out. Their son Matthew did farm the land and care for his parents until his mother's death in 1862, and his father's in 1864.

The above information is from, "The Descendants of Jacob Hons/Jacob John" by George E. Honts III, Revised Ed. October 1999, and available from the Botetourt (VA) Historical Society. In the book he states that he found Henry & Elizabeth's headstones in 1993 in the desecrated cemetery he called the Yetter (Liztown) Cemetery at Maple Valley. The stones were laying flat on the ground and he published a photograph of them in his book.
