A.L. Hale, county commissioner from the second district, Roger Mills County, dropped dead at his home near Hammon, last Friday, April 3, 1914. Mr. Hale had been bothered for sometime with heart trouble. Mr. Hale, born April 5, 1857, was past 56 years of age and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Arthur Crawford.

A.L. Hale was a good man. And as a man it is those who knew him best that appreciated his worth. He believed in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. He believed that the man who scattered flowers in the pathway of his fellowmen; who let into the dark places of life sunshine of human sympathy and human happiness, is following in the footsteps of his Master. His cheerful, helpful life, his devotion to his relatives and friends will long linger as a fragrant memory. Though this good man has gone his record has been made and will remain with us as a lasting treasure. His life was gentle, but like the still waters, it was deep. In his heart of hearts he carried those he loved, and his hand was never weary, his step never failed in caring for and ministering to those who were in any way dependent upon him. As a friend A.L. Hale was true, and as a citizen was identified with the very best.

A large number of the Masonic lodge of Cheyenne attended the funeral. The funeral procession was one of the largest ever witnessed in this county, paying the last tribute to a deceased brother.

The funeral services were held in Hammon, OKlahoma, Rev. Hern officiating and paying a beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased. The Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges at Hammon conducted the burial rites and the body of A.L. Hale was placed in the Hammon Cemetery, Hammon, Oklahoma to await resurrection morn. Peace to his soul.
