Death of Mrs. Aiton.
Mrs. Nancy Aiton, widow of John Aiton, late of Glenwood, Minn., died at the resident of Mr. H. T. Hine, at Alexandria, Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, 1887, at one o’clock. Mrs. Aiton came over on a visit two weeks before. Her health had been poor for some time and she was taken worse a day or two after her arrival, and though a week ago she seemed to be improving, her symptoms changed and she sank rapidly to the close.
Mrs. Aiton was born at St. Lawrence county New York, January 1, 1821. She came to Minnesota with her husband and family in 1856, residing some years in St. Paul, and came to this section with the early settlers.
She followed her husband close to that borne from which no traveler returns. His death occurred June 17. Three daughters and four sons survive her, Miss Jessie, of Glenwood, Mrs. J. Orlop and Mrs. James Stanley, of California, John and Thomas, of Reno, James, of Aberdeen, and Charles, of Glenwood. Only two of the children were with their mother during her last sickness, Miss Jessie and Thomas. All the other boys were at Aberdeen at work and did not reach here until a few hours after her death.
Mrs. Aiton was one of the best of truly good women, a devoted wife, fond mother and sincere and constant friend. She was a true christian and in death was perfectly resigned. If the assurance of the christian faith, which promise the reward to the righteous, can assuage the grief of those who mourn, they certainly have that consolation.
The funeral took place Thursday morning from the residence of Mr. Hine to the cemetery in Reno, the services being conducted by Rev. E. G. Elsey, of Glenwood.

Aiton brothers have purchased lots in Kincaid cemetery and will remove their parents and the children of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Aiton from the Reno cemetery. The material is partly on the ground for a fine granite monument which Messrs. Aiton will have put up.
Obituary for Nancy Aiton - It is interesting to note that she originally was buried at the cemetery in Reno Township, but her son or sons had the remains of their parents John and Nancy Aiton exhumed and reburied with the rest of the family at Kinkead Cemetery at a later date.
