She lived for some time in the locality of her birthplace, uniting with the Congregational Church at the age of 16 years. Moved with her parents to the farm on Briggs Hill in Somerset County. About the year 1846 the entire family moved from Briggs Hill to Grand Detour, Illinois, and finally to an 80 acre farm about 7 miles northeast of Paw Paw, Lee County, Illinois.

At the age of 20 she met and married Elisha Thomas Ellis. They united their joys and sorrows for life at Dixon, Illinois on August 27, 1847 and commenced housekeeping in Beloit, Wisconsin. He passed away February 14, 1871 in Roscoe, Winnebago County, Illinois.

Abbie passed away in possession of the Christian faith, her body being placed at rest on the lot of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Hattie A. Morris.

Abbie and Elisha had nine children:

3. Ida Evangeline Ellis, b: Jan 30, 1853 in Beloit, WI
