GREENSBURG RECORD HERALD OBITUARY – 1980
Mr. James F. "Bess" Hatcher, age 81, of 1224 Orange Ave., Florida, son of the late Creed H. & Melissa Clark Hatcher was born in Hart Co., KY, on September 23, 1899 and departed this life at 7 a.m., November 28, 1980 at his home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Gaines Hatcher of Florida; 1 daughter, Mrs. Margie Bridgewater of Florida; 5 sons, Charles W. Hatcher and Robert Hatcher of Umatilla, FL; James W. Hatcher and Richard Hatcher of Eustis; Charles L. Hatcher of Kentucky; and Michael Hatcher of Leesburg, FL. Other survivors include 2 sisters, Mrs. Charles English and Mrs. Wilson Cox both of Greensburg, KY, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He had lived and worked in the Ebenezer Community and adjoining counties before moving to Florida in 1960. He was a building contractor. After retirement he moved back to Greensburg and lived here a brief time before returning to Florida in 1978. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 1, 1980 at the Foster-Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Gilbert Larimore officiating. Burial was in the Ebenezer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Taylor Judd, G.T. Eubanks, Sammy Cox, O'Banion and Huston Hartfield.
