Dorothy D. (Waddell) Edwards, 93, of Wrentham, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2012, with loving family at her side. Born July 3, 1919, in Eagle Lake, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Frances Waddell of Texas. She attended high school in Ballinger, Texas, and was a World War II veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant of the Womens Army Corps from 1943-1958. Dorothy moved to Boston in 1958 and became the beloved wife of the late William J. Edwards Sr. of Dorchester. She is survived by her son, William J. Edwards Jr. and his wife Deborah of Lakeville; daughter, Frances Jackson and her husband Michael of Wrentham; granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth Jackson; and step-grandchildren, Samuel Jackson, Jillian Johnson, Micah Small and Karrie and Joshua Major; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy is also survived by her sister, Ann Loafman of Cleburne, Texas, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Willard, Bernard, John Lee, William James and Phillip Waddell, and two sisters, Mable Allen and Martha Moore. A visitation with family and friends will be held at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Rte. 1A, Wrentham Centre, Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, from 4-8 p.m. A service with military honors will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at 10 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Centre.
