Canon City Daily Record: Susie Schwarz, area resident, died Tuesday.
Mrs. Susie Schwarz, lifelong are resident, died Tuesday at St. Thomas More Hospital. She was born June 26, 1884 in the Wet Mountain Valley and was 89. She moved to Canon City in 1959, coming here from Silver Cliff, and was a housewife by occupation and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mrs. Schwarz was married Dec. 9, 1910 at Canon City to Louis Fredrick Schwarz, who preceded her in death in 1959.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Emil, in 1955 and a brother, Robert Elze. Survivors include eight children, Ernest Schwarz of Silver cliff, Herman Schwarz of Denver, Mrs. Rose Vigil of San Diego, Calif., Harry Schwarz of Colorado Springs, Harold Schwarz, Emma Curtis and Mrs. Vera McDermott, all of Canon City, and Louis Schwarz of Richland, Wash. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
Other survivors include four brothers and three sisters, Otto Elze and Arnold Else, both of Westcliffe, Fritz Else of Lincoln, Neb., Goettlieb Elze, of Pueblo, Bertha Fisher of Denver, Selma Lensch of Westcliffe and Lena Rogers of Santa Fe, N.M.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lowell Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
