Catherine Shelton Sluder, 76, of Powell Street, Asheville, N.C. died Thursday, November 28, 1996, after a brief illness.
A native of Buncombe County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley and Dolly Martin Shelton; her son Allen Floyd Sluder and her brothers, J.D. Shelton and Ray O. Shelton.
She is survived by her husband Floyd L. Sluder; daughters, Shirley Sluder Brown and Joyce Sluder Woodard of Asheville; grandchildren, Donald Woods of Candler, Shirlene Brown of Asheville; great-granddaughter, Sarah Woods of Candler; sister, Leola Shelton Bradburn of Marshall; brother Ted G. Shelton of Weaverville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverends Jennis Sluder and Oder Anders officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Baptist Church, Leicester, where she was a member.
The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund at the Mountain View Baptist Church in care of Elmer Parham, 428 Ridgeview Road, Leicester, N.C. 28748.
